Sondra D. Lettrich
Director of the Graduate Program in Special Education and Assistant Professor. Ph.D., M.Ed., University of Pittsburgh; B.S., Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Lettrich has been a hearing and speech therapist and has taught both elementary and special education classes from preschool through high school. She holds certification in elementary education, speech and hearing therapy, deaf education, and curriculum and supervision in special education. Her areas of scholarly interest and research include teacher development, elementary and secondary reading methods, and inclusionary programs and practices for special needs children.
Daniel Gray
Assistant Professor. Ed.D., M.Ed., University of Pittsburgh; B.A., Duquesne University. Dr. Gray is certified in and taught social studies on the middle school level for ten years. He has since been involved in teacher education. He also served as Associate Director at St. Anthony's School for Exceptional Children. His areas of interest include clinical supervision, curriculum development, practitioner-related issues, and integrating Holocaust studies into the curriculum.
Alvaro Q. Barriga
Assistant Professor. Ph.D., M.A., B.A., Ohio State University. Dr. Barriga has published and continues to actively pursue research on social cognition in the development of adolescent aggression and depression. He is well-versed in the areas of developmental and social
psychology.
Mary Ann Gawelek
Professor and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College. Ed.D., M.Ed., Boston University; B.A., University of Steubenville. Dr. Gawelek spent several years in the public schools serving as an adjustment counselor. She has consulted to schools on issues of diversity and mediation in regards to socio-cultural differences. Psychology of women, diversity, clinical supervision and professional ethics are her areas of scholarly interest.
Frank R. Klapak
Associate Professor. Ph.D., M.Ed., B.A., University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Klapak has extensive professional and academic experience in designing, developing and using alternative delivery programs for instruction, communication, and management, including games and simulations, experiential learning environments, and instructional technologies.
