Philosophy helps students engage in critical and
creative thinking through rigorous discussion and close reading. We
address the perennial questions concerning the meaning of life, the nature of
the human race, and the existence of God, goodness, and truth. In the
process students develop a liveliness of sympathies, a love of beauty, and a
knowledge of the human heart. Such goals warrant any person's attention.
But philosophy also addresses our more practical needs.
Philosophy students continue their
education and pursue such varied careers as law, computer science, encryption,
teaching, systems analysis, ethics consultants, publishing, and administrative
and management positions. Philosophy benefits any career that requires
clear thought and creative imagination.
