A Good Start for a Freshman Artist

Seton Hill University will award to an incoming freshman student majoring in Art the Hensler-lrvin Scholarship in Art. This scholarship, valued at $750, will be a one-time award to an especially promising beginning artist. The award will apply to either of Seton Hill's degree programs in art — the B.A. (Bachelor of Art) in Art or the B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree in the Visual Arts.

You May Be Eligible

To be eligible you must submit an application for admission to Seton Hill University and meet the requirements for admission, plus supply a portfolio* of recent work for jurying by the faculty of the Art Program of Seton Hill University.

Excellence is Rewarded at Seton Hill University

The awarding of the scholarship will be based solely on the quality of the art portfolio submitted; that is, on the basis of the excellence of the art work only. Other financial aid programs at Seton Hill University are available to students who demonstrate need or who would like to be recognized for academic merit.

You are Invited to Apply

Portfolios will be juried on the first Friday in April. If you wish to submit a portfolio for the Hensler-lrvin Scholarship, you are invited to visit the campus prior to the jury date. You are encouraged to plan your portfolio review for the first Friday in April. You may also schedule a portfolio review any time during the year by writing or calling the Office of Admissions, Seton Hill University, Seton Hill Drive, Greensburg, PA 15601, 412-838-4255 or toll free 800-8266234. During the visit, a personal interview will be scheduled with a member of the Art Program. You will be able to discuss the majors available at Seton Hill, and you can personally deliver your portfolio.

Students who are unable to visit the campus are also encouraged to apply. Color slides of your art work are acceptable as a portfolio. All works must be submitted to: Art Program Director, Seton Hill University, or to the Admissions Office, no later than one day before the first Friday in April.

The Josefa Filkosky Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded annually to a junior or senior art major who has consistently shown outstanding creativity and involvement in the production of challenging and high quality art works and who also shows promise of being serious in their pursuit of continued growth as an artist and in their knowledge
of art.
